What’s your favorite cartoon?

Everyone had their “channel rotation” growing up — that sacred pattern of flipping between networks to catch the best shows after school, late at night, or during those long no-homework weekends. I had mine too, and the cartoons from that era are still burned into my brain like saved game files.

Here are my personal favorites from each major network — the ones I dropped everything for, even if it meant sprinting to the kitchen during commercial breaks.

Cartoon Network — Teen Titans (2003)

Cartoon Network had too many hits to pick from, but Teen Titans was the show that made me freeze mid-snack with the remote in my hand. Every episode felt like a mix of style, comedy, and “I can’t believe cartoons can be this cool.”

The theme song slapped.

The fights went way harder than anyone expected.

And the Slade arc? Still wild.

It was the kind of show where you watched one episode and next thing you know, the sun went down and the house got quiet.

Nickelodeon — Avatar: The Last Airbender

This one might be the most obvious pick, but honestly? It deserves it.

Whenever Avatar came on, my entire house knew they weren’t getting the TV back for the next hour. I’d grab whatever snack had the least chance of dripping on the remote and lock in. The animation, the story, the characters — it all just hit different.

Every time I rewatch it now, it gives me that same feeling of being sprawled across the couch with the volume slightly too loud.

Disney Channel — Kim Possible

If Disney had a golden era, Kim Possible was one of the shows carrying it on its back.

It was one of those cartoons that somehow felt cool no matter how old you were. The ringtone alone might as well be a time machine. Between Dr. Drakken being dramatic, Shego being effortlessly iconic, and Ron having no business being that funny, it was impossible not to tune in.

Plus, Disney’s action-comedy blend was unmatched during those years — the perfect “one more episode before bed” kind of show.

Kids’ WB / The CW — Static Shock

Saturday mornings belonged to certain shows, and Static Shock was one of them.

There was just something about Virgil flying around on a manhole cover, taking on villains with pure style. The show was fun, but it also had moments that stuck with you long after the credits rolled.

I remember eating cereal on the couch, controller on the floor, fully locked in like it was an event. Kids’ WB really had something special with this one.

Boomerang — Tom & Jerry Kids / Classic Blocks

Boomerang was the channel you didn’t always plan for — you just landed on it and ended up staying longer than expected.

For me, it was Tom & Jerry Kids or those classic cartoon blocks that pulled me in. Even though they were older shows, they fit perfectly with slow afternoons when nothing else was on. Simple, chaotic, and endlessly rewatchable.

Sometimes I’d throw it on while playing handheld games, just letting the background chaos fill the room. It was the perfect “vibe” channel.

Final Thoughts

Everyone has that one cartoon that instantly takes them back — a theme song, a villain, a character design that’s basically a memory checkpoint. These shows weren’t just time-fillers; they were part of the routine, the background music of growing up.

So now I’m curious…
